  • Question: Ok, so which one are you discontinuing? magicvorthos or mtgvorthos? - theartofmtg
  • Answer:

MtGVorthos. I blogged that from my phone, so if I made a mistake, I blame my phone.

EDIT: I was actually done re-blogging it, but I apparently gained two followers on the wrong blog, so…

Sorry for any and all confusion caused.

That’s right! I’m switching to my primary blog being about Magic instead of secondary, as I care about it far more. MtGVorthos will be discontinued after today’s Card of the Day post, because I already queued that one. Whoops. But MagicVorthos is going to be the exact same thing, so…no real loss.

Reblogging so that this will be seen.

I’m gonna reblog this at least one more time, so unfollow me if it’s annoying. Sorry. I just wanna let everyone see it.

Yes, I am aware that those are the same card. I just wanted to show the difference in the way cards from Limited Edition look and the way cards look now.

Anyway! Animate Dead is exactly what you’d expect from a card called “Animate Dead.” The only potential surprise in store is that the creature gets -1/-0. Of course, a creature brought back from the dead will probably be missing a bit of musculature, so the difference is flavorful and interesting. In fact, you can tell that the Sun Titan being reanimated on the Graveborn card is weaker than he was before death. There’s not really a lot to say about this card, though, that it doesn’t say itself. This is the necromantic spell, so the concept should be familiar to basically all of you. I feel that, wonky Oracle text aside, any death-raiser would be happy to have this in their arsenal. From the lowly acolyte to the King of Worms, I bet this gets cast a lot.

Flavorful Cards

I’m not usually a big fan of Gathering Magic, but this article is excellent. Everyone should read it.

EDIT: If I have a complaint, it’s the fact that nothing older than Kamigawa is featured. Pre-Kamigawa Magic had some great flavor.

Anyone else really hate the weekends? I mean, I love ‘em, don’t get me wrong! But dang, no more previews.
